To say we were blown away by the response to our latest colouring competition would be a huge understatement!

From bold stripey patterns to rainbow feathers and hilarious little artistic details, our desks and inboxes were completely overflowing with colour (just the way we like it). Every single picture brought a massive smile to our faces – and made choosing our winners a very hard task.
Why did picking a winner take a few extra days?
If you were wondering why it took us a little longer than planned to announce the results, this is why. We simply couldn't rush it. We looked at every entry, admiring the effort, the big task of colouring inside the lines for our youngest artists and the sheer creativity put into every single submission. In the end, it was so tight that we just couldn't stop at one winner – so we added runners-up prizes to the mix, too!

So who won our colouring competition?
We are thrilled to announce our winner, Florrie, who has won a Stripey goodie pack valued at over $130. Her Stripey (pictured below) was a pastel joy!
Along with their fantastic colour palette. Our winning artist sent in this beautifully written poem that captured Stripey's playful spirit so perfectly. Hmm, an artist and an author?? Remind you of anyone? (Wendy Binks perhaps?)
"A little black and white emu, fluffy and small, with bright blue legs so proud and tall. Stripey is his name, so lively and bright he fills every day with fun and delight; he frolics around, bringing smiles, spreading happiness for miles and miles. With a wibble and a wobble and a skip and a hop, his playful adventures just never stop!"
Isn't that wonderful? It completely stole our hearts!
Celebrating 21 years of Where's Stripey at Stunned Emu Designs in the Fremantle Markets.
This whole competition has been part of a giant celebration for us because where's Stripey? turns 21 years old this year! It's hard to believe that whole generations of Aussie kids have grown up reading about one very adventurous emu chick, and now parents who read Stripey as children are bringing their own little artists down to the markets to join in the fun. Because Stripey is turning 21, we wanted to spend this special year spoiling all of Stripey's little local emu friends. Kiddies are back at school now, and we hope they enjoyed their July school holidays. We kicked off the festivities at our Fremantle stall with free party bags and our big colouring-in competition to give families a bit of extra free holiday cheer!

Whether your little artist took home the BIG prize or just had a ball with their pencils and textas, we want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you, and if they used textas, did they put the lids back on?? Likely not, but who has time for formalities when there's work to be done?!
It brings us so much joy to see Wendy’s quirky emus and native characters brought to life by young imaginations across WA. To say thanks for making our job so hard – in the best way possible – we've sent out a special treat. All runners-up have been personally emailed with their Emu Money voucher attached.

She's best known as the creator of Stripey the emu chick and author of Where's Stripey?, which won the WA Premier's Literary Award for Children's Books.
