Majesty – Original

From Wendy's paintbrush, a place of genuine wonder – because there are trees. And then there are these trees. Some paintings make a room feel bigger. This one makes you remember there's a whole world outside it.

The great karri and marri of Western Australia's southwest are ancient, enormous, and completely indifferent to your presence. You stand at the base of one and tip your head back, and it just keeps going. Bark peeling in long ribbons of cream and ochre and soft grey. Branches reaching in every direction, like they've got all the time in the world, because they do. The light is coming through in shafts, broken and golden and alive.

'Majesty' isn't a word Wendy uses lightly. But down south, among the old growth gum trees, it's the only word that fits.
