Emus & Boabs has the energy of a group of mates who've just spotted something worth investigating – and decided, collectively, that a closer look is absolutely necessary. In the foreground, four bright-eyed emus push in with their spiky crowns and that particular emu expression that sits somewhere between curious and conspiratorial. Behind them, a pale sculptural boab holds court, its bulbous trunk and twisting bare branches reaching into a sky so deeply turquoise it almost glows. More ghostly boabs drift across the horizon, scattered through scrub and blazing red earth. The contrast of hot desert and cool sky gives the whole scene that unmistakable outback punch – vivid, joyful, and genuinely alive. You can almost hear them whispering.
