Johnno's Lagoon – Original
From Wendy's paintbrush for the Kimberley obsessive, the croc admirer, or anyone who's ever leant over a boat and felt their heart do something unexpected. and he was here before the lake existed. He'll be here long after you've gone home and told everyone about him.
This is croc country, the real kind. Lake Argyle in Western Australia's ancient Kimberley region is home to an estimated 25,000 freshwater crocodiles, and this painting doesn't let you forget it for a second. One ancient, armour plated head breaks the surface among the lily pads, that extraordinary golden eye fixed on something only he can see. The tail cuts through the teal water behind him like a slow, deliberate warning. Purple water lilies bloom around him, gloriously unbothered. The whole scene hums with that particular Kimberley magic vast, vivid, and just a little bit feral.
